The player must take control of Elta the Wizard, also the last Magician Lord. Elta is on a mission to save his home land from the evil Gul-Agieze, who is planning to resurrect the god of destruction by using the eight Tomes of mystical power. As Elta the player must fight his way through eight different levels to find each of the tomes before he gets to the final level to seal away the evil god once again.
Elta must make his way through each level and beat sub-boss and a boss before reaching the final battle with Az-Atous, the god of destruction. Play is like that of a standard side-scrolling action game, with the added twist of transformations that give the wizard different attacks and abilities. When he has not been transformed, Elta’s main form of attack is a weak but fast projectile that he can shoot four ways, left, right, up and while jumping down. There are six different forms Elta can become by picking up Various colored orbs here is a list, Dragon Warrior, Waterman, Poseidon, Shinobi, Samurai and Raizin
